Guess Who's Coming To Dinner

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any many hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

At the dinner table is where we congregate with our loved one, our friends, our confidant and where we converse and fellowship according to the appropriate company. There is nothing more nourishing to ones’ soul than fellowship around the table.

Are you ready to dine with the Lord, is your table prepared? Have you arranged your special place for Him to come and commune with you? If someone important was coming to dine at your place, would you decoratively set your table with a table cloth, some napkins, plates and silverware? And set out some of your best drinking glasses and prepare a special meal. When we come to the table we come to partake of the feast. Guess who’s coming to dinner. God has a divine invitation with your name on it. He has a table reserved in your name. It is a table with the Lord God Himself unfolds as a feast on the table. Our most extravagant and best table cannot be compared to the Lords table. We will never go hungry at the Lords table when we come to commune with Him. Jesus declared ‘He is the bread of life and whoever comes to Him will never go hungry and thirsts again. Without Him, we will have a continual hunger.

The word declares in Matthew 5:6 ‘Blessed is the man that hunger and thirst for righteousness he shall be filled.’ God is extending an invitation for us to come to Him and feast. Will you be His guest? He is knocking on the door of our hearts. God never forces the door to be open; He will ask permission to gain access. He cannot come in unless we invite him in, and that’s by unlocking the key to the door of our hearts. Literally we cannot take a key to our hearts; however we can open our hearts to God and allow Him to lead. He wants to fellowship with us and dwell in our hearts and lives. Intimate fellowship is what the Lord requires of us. It comes through knowing God our Father through His Living Word. And Christ is the key to that intimacy. Revelation 3:20 is a call for intimacy and an invitation to enter into a covenant of fellowship and love with an Almighty God.

Let us pray: Dear Lord You are the Bread of Life and we welcome You at our table. We thank You we can feast and have fellowship we You anytime of the day. We desire to have true fellowship with You, prepare our hearts and mind to follow after truth. Fill our cup to overflowing and give us an inner hunger and yearning for Your Word. Feed us from Your spiritual table until we want no more. In Jesus Name. Amen!
