Praying With Authority

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14

Brothers and Sisters, our authority is in the name of Jesus. There is power in praying the authority of Jesus Christ. The scripture mention gives us the authority to pray in Jesus name. This powerful phrase, “in Jesus name" "Yehshua" authorizes us to do as his agent. God has given us the power of attorney to use His name and to represent him on earth to carry out His will. It is our obligation to use this authority that is ours through the name of Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords. The name that is above all names. God is waiting for us to exercise our authority to bring our prayers into existence. When we pray with authority our prayers are manifested in the physical realm. We can exercise our authority through our spoken word, our words have authority. The book of Daniel 11:32 tell us, "The people who know their God shall be strong and do exploits." God is looking for those who will demonstrate strength and take action. As well as relying on His strength and not their own.

Let’s look at the authority of Jesus and how He exercised it. In Matthew 21:23-27 expresses it this way: "And when He had come into the temple, the chief priests and elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching, and said, “By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority? And Jesus answered and said to them, I will ask you one thing too, which if you tell me; I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men? And they began reasoning among themselves, saying, if we say, from heaven, He will say to us, then why did you not believe him? But if we say, from men, we fear the multitude; for they all hold John to be a prophet. And answering Jesus, they said, we do not know. He also said to them, neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. It is clear that Jesus received His authority from his Father.

God has given us authority, He requires us to use this authority for His glory. And because we are a citizen of God’s heavenly kingdom (Philippians 3:20), we are also given the right to share in its authority. We share Christ kingly authority on the throne as stated in Ephesians 2:6 “And raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” It is through prayer and intercession that we govern the authority that is ours “in Jesus name. Will you rely on God and trust in His faithfulness and exercise your God-given authority in prayer?
