In order to gain ground or to recover ground, civilians or an injured soldier often times another soldier will make a choice risking their own safety to accomplish the goal of the battle. Remember there is only one enemy he just has many counterparts. When the soldier prepares to engage he or she will come out of the trench to   risk their safety and expose themselves to the enemy. They will then say to their fellow soldiers “cover me". The soldiers that are left in the trenches will shoot with intent to kill all those that endanger the welfare of their soldier. The soldier that has engaged will also fire and in some cases be hit and even die to accomplish what's necessary to reach their COMMON GOAL.
