Black History Fact

Drapetomania What is drapetomania, it is a term that was originated and hypothesized in 1851 by a man named Samuel Cartwright who was a medical doctor that practiced medicine in the South? He came up with this racial theory when an African slave would runaway, Cartwright considered that the slaves had a disease, a mental illness when one wanted to flee. Think about this because an African slave wanted to escape from being beaten, dehumanize, raped, and who wanted to escape captivity. They were literally diagnosed.   Below is some interesting information about Drapetomania: Southern doctors used pseudo-science to explain why slaves tried to escape while ignoring the fact that maybe they just didn't like being slaves. It’s easy to forget that up until very recently, slavery was a normal and accepted way of life. Since the beginning of recorded history, some humans have enslaved others, and people accepted it as the way of the world. It is boggling to the modern Western mind to t...

Still I Rise

Image
For this moment, I believe this is an appropriate word. My apologies for my inconsistencies and inactivity, I have been keeping my equilibrium through these challenges. I know to everything there is a season, and at this present time is a season of tough endurance along with the recovery of surgery.  Some seasons we faced in life are great and some seasons are tough. If you are in a great season, it's only going to get greater. And if you are in a tough season, be of good cheer, it shall be well. While our circumstances may be challenging and difficult, they will not last forever. We  must rise above all challenges great, Rise above anger! Rise above attacks!  Rise above defeat!  Rise above frustration!  Rise above disappointment!  Rise above regret!  Rise above adversities!  Still I Rise During this journey of physical healing and victory, I had to sift my spiraling emotions to savoring my Father's Words by setting my affection on t...

Black History Fact

As we see the condition of the country is yet experiencing systemic racism, racism is alive and well in 21st century in America. Blacks have faced the battle of racism on numerous levels. The color of police violence, housing racial, job discrimination, disadvantage conditions and lack of governmental services have been hidden causes in the black community. These are a few instances of how America has not respected the value of black life. In this space, I would like to highlight an inhumane and cruel dimension on a black history fact of servitude and slavery.   Chattels Personal      Today I would like to expound on what Black slaves was considered as from the slave master. Blacks was considered as property as far back as the 1600's to the slave owners. Slavery was cruel, it could be found in many places, from antiquity to very recent times. Africans was first brought to Jamestown, Virginia in 1619 and sold as "servants for life". In 1817 the cour...

Press On-The Heavenly Goal

Image
Photo by Christian Ferrari: Freeimages Philippians 3:14 "I press toward the mark of the High calling of Christ Jesus." The Apostle Paul pictured himself in a race, straining every nerve and muscle exerting every ounce of strength like a runner in a race.  The one thing an athlete has in their mind is to win. The runner sees himself crossing the finish line and winning the race.  Paul’s goal as ours should be to get to know Christ.  In this scripture the believer is reminded to press for the prize of a high calling in Christ Jesus.  We should totally depend on Christ it was the mission of Paul to please our Lord and Saviour even if it cost him his life.      The one thing Paul knew is that the churches needed him.  The scriptures remind us that Paul suffered much in his body from stoning and beatings.  When he was in prison, he wrote that his mind was on Paradise and his desire to leave the earth.  Yet, he knew he had to press into...

No Shadow of Turning from God’s Presence

Image
Photo Credit: FreeImages  James 1:17 “ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” He is Infinite. Jehovah is the self-existing one. He is adorned in His Glory. Jehovah is Immutable . He is self-sufficient. Jehovah is Omnipotent in all of His Glory. Just as the sun shines bright, the presence of God shines brighter . His faces shine brighter than the sun. The Word says “There is no shadow of turning with Thee” whenever you are walking in the sun and you move your shadow shifts. However, Jehovah does not change when there is a crisis in our day. Jehovah is Omniscien t . He knew the pandemic was coming before it arrived. He is as close to us as we are to Him. He is faithful along this journey of life. He is consistent in His faithfulness towards us. He is patient and compassionate towards us. He loves us past our emotions and attitude. Some people change lik...

And This is The Confidence....

Image
This is one of my favorite scriptures I John 5:14. " and this is the confidence we have in Christ Jesus if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. For this reason, we praise and thank you for your grace and mercy, we can't make it without you. The " confidence " in believing that God will see you through right where you are so go ahead and thank Him for His grace and mercy! Clap your hands all ye people .... Psalm 47 And this is the confidence that I have that God's will be done in my life, my family and my friends. And this is the confidence that I have that the Lord is my healer and the healing blood of Jesus flows through my veins and my body. And this is the confidence that I have that everything God promise me will be He will do. And this is the confidence that I have that nothing shall hinder me from accelerating further in the things that God purpose for me. And this is the confidence that we must continually remind ourse...

My Soul's Been Anchored

Image
Image by DESIGNBYTHOLEN from Pixabay Hello beloveds and dear readers, thinking about you and wanted to share a word of encouragement to you. I pray during these difficult and troublesome times you are leaning on the Lord. The uplifting news is He won't let you down. The Lord is your strong tower, the righteous runneth into it, and is safe (Proverbs 18:10). In this season we are in is a place we have never been before, it's called "Uncharted territory". Uncharted territory is a new and unknown place, a place of uncertainty, a place where one would not voluntarily go. In the 1960's television series classic "Lost in Space", the Robinson family along with their robot left earth on a mission and landed in the place of uncertainty. To say the least, the Robinson family was shipwrecked due to the termination of their disastrous voyage that left them hopelessly lost in space. You and I may not be on a remarkable voyage navigating around the world; ho...

Stay in the Race- DON'T GIVE UP!

Image
Photo by Simson Petrol: Stocksnap Ecclesiastes 9:11 "I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. Though we are born with a sinful nature, we can choose between loving God and keeping His commandments or rebel against his spiritual laws. When we choose to violate God's laws we choose to reap where we have sown. As I read the Bible, I have concluded that no one will be denied entry into Heaven because of incomplete assignments or unfinished business for Ministry. In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon the wisest man to ever live let us see today the "Race" is about enduring no matter how hard it is. When you consider a natural race on a track you start very enthusiastic! Your total mindset is that I'm winning this race no opponent is going to stop yo...

Happy Martin Luther King Day

He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.~Martin Luther King, Jr. Today is set aside to celebrate and honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. In honor of Dr. King's legacy here is a brief excerpt of his bio: Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. His grandfather began the family’s long tenure as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, serving from 1914 to 1931; his father has served from then until the present, and from 1960 until his death Martin Luther acted as co-pastor. Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen; he received the B. Sound the Alarm

Image
Photo credits: Freeimages Awake from sleep for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. There is a clarion call in the realm of the spirit. Many of the intercessors and the five-fold ministry have become desensitized and at ease. They have been lulled to sleep with mediocrity and the chasing of wealth. Our 'those that claim to be a part of the body' children are falling through the cracks. They are being deceived and drawn away by seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. We are busy laying hands on each other while our children witness the double lifestyle that is lived at home. God is calling for there to be a shifting and a soberness of mind. He desires for those that are supposed to be on the front line to be in position. There is no time for us to toil with our assignments. We must withstand our post and be vigilant. Our enemy is a worthy adversary, He is cunning and crafty. We can only defeat him if we are in Christ Jesus and that means walking in the spirit consistently. ...

Image
photo credit: Freeimages  Happy New Year's Eve Kings and Queens I trust you are having a lovely evening! Thank you for sharing my blog with me this means a-lot to me. Today is the last day of the year and my express attitude toward God "We Made It"! As you can see beloveds time has flown by and a new decade is on the horizon, we are heading into the new year of 2020 and stepping out of the year of 2019. The beneficial thing is we can begin a fresh new start in light of the fact that there is a stronger and prosperous future that anticipates us up ahead. As we wrap up the end of this year allow me to reflect on my year of 2019 believe me, trust me, I had my share of highs and low and in the middle of  those highs and lows through it all thank God I Made It. Oh, the growth and the gratitude, God was there constantly, when everything seemed hopeless God step in and divinely orchestrated my path. Nothing is over so despite what setback, heartbreak, disappointment, or ...
